Privacy
This is a small site built by a dad and his son. We keep as little as possible, and this page says exactly what happens — in plain English.
No ad trackers
There are no advertising trackers, no Meta Pixel, no Google Analytics, and no third-party tracking scripts anywhere on this site.
We do keep our own simple usage counts on our own server — things like "someone started a 3x3 solve" or "someone opened the camera scanner" — so we know which features are worth improving. Those counts include a random id for your browsing session, and nothing else about you. They never include your cube colors, your photos, your email, or your name.
If you arrive from an ad, a post, or a link that has campaign tags in the web address (for example utm_source=meta), we record those tags and the website you came from alongside those same counts. That tells us which links bring people here. It is not personal information, it is not shared with anyone, and no advertising network receives anything back from us.
Cookies
One cookie, and only if you use the beta features. When you enter a beta code, we set a secure cookie that remembers "this device entered the code" so you don't have to type it again. It holds no personal information.
Camera and photo scanning
Photos you scan are sent to an AI service to read your cube's colors. They are not processed only inside your browser. We send the images to the AI reader, get back a list of sticker colors, and use that to fill in the cube.
We do not save your photos, and we do not keep copies after the scan. If you'd rather nothing leaves your device, paint the cube by hand instead — painting and every solver work entirely in your browser and cost nothing.
Solving your cube
All solving runs on your own device. Your cube colors and the solution steps are never sent anywhere and are never stored.
Email addresses
We only have your email if you type it into the updates form or the beta form. We store it so we can email you about new Cube Buddy features, and for nothing else. We don't sell it or share it. Reply to any message and we'll delete it.
Amazon links
The cube recommendations are Amazon affiliate links, so we may earn a small commission if you buy through them. Once you land on Amazon, Amazon's own cookies and privacy policy apply — we can't see what you browse or buy there, only that a purchase happened.
Kids
This site is meant to be safe for kids. We don't ask for names, ages, locations, or accounts, and there's nothing to sign up for except the optional email updates list.
Independence
Cube Buddy is an independent site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rubik's, Spin Master, GAN, or any other cube manufacturer.
